What QuoteBot does

QuoteBot is a Chrome extension that lets you highlight text on any webpage, style it as a branded quote card, and export or share it. It runs entirely in your browser.

Data we collect

QuoteBot collects no personal data. Specifically:

• We do not collect your name, email, or any identifying information.
• We do not log the text you select or the quote cards you create.
• We do not track which websites you visit.
• We do not use analytics or crash-reporting services.
• We do not use cookies or any tracking technologies.

What is stored locally

QuoteBot saves your branding preferences — brand name, handle, newsletter footer line, logo image, and default template — using Chrome's chrome.storage.local API. This data is stored only in your browser on your device and is never transmitted anywhere.

• Your logo (if uploaded) is stored as a Base64 data URL in local browser storage.
• All stored data can be cleared at any time via the Settings page → Reset defaults, or by removing the extension.

Permissions used

QuoteBot requests the following Chrome permissions:

• storage — to save your branding settings locally in your browser.
• downloads — to save quote card PNG files to your Downloads folder when you click Save image.
• clipboardWrite — to copy the quote card image to your clipboard when you click Share.
• host permissions (<all_urls>) — required so the extension can inject its text-selection interface on any webpage you choose to use it on. No page content is read, transmitted, or stored.

Third-party services

QuoteBot does not connect to any third-party services or APIs. When you share a quote card to X (Twitter) or LinkedIn, you are interacting directly with those platforms in your own browser — QuoteBot does not act as an intermediary.

Children's privacy

QuoteBot is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be published at this URL with a revised effective date. Continued use of the extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
